Since there are no standard course titles that fulfill all applications, some of the course titles in the Ohio TechCred program do not match our standard offerings, even though the content may be the same.

The Application Process
- Submit an Application: Employers apply during open periods, selecting eligible credentials and a training provider. Applications are submitted online via the TechCred portal.
- Required Info: Applications must include employer details, training provider, and credential information. See the full guidelines for a complete list.
- Scoring: Successful applications are chosen based on the relevance of the training, industry impact, and cost-effectiveness.
- Approval & Training: Employers are notified of approval and can begin training. Employees must earn the credential within 12 months.
- Credential Proof: Employers submit proof of credential completion once training is finished.
- Apply for Reimbursement: Submit an application for reimbursement with documentation to receive funds—typically processed within 60 days.
Program Guidelines
- Eligibility: Ohio employers of all sizes—including private companies, nonprofits, and public employers (excluding state agencies)—are eligible to apply. Employees must be Ohio residents, and both current and prospective employees (future employees) are eligible if employed when training begins.
- Award Amounts: Employers can receive up to $2,000 per employee for each approved credential and up to $180,000 per year to offset training costs.
- Credential Eligibility: Only eligible credentials that are short-term (typically completed in less than 12 months), technology-focused, and industry-recognized qualify for reimbursement. See our list below for eligible courses and topics.
- Training Providers: Employers can select any training provider that offers an approved credential—ERC is an approved credential provider. Training may be delivered online, in person, or via hybrid models.
- Reimbursement Requirements: ERC will provide a proof of credential completion for employers to submit after training to receive reimbursement through the program.
