Susan Chermonte

As a seasoned HR Consultant and Membership Manager, Susan leverages two decades of human resources expertise to help organizations strengthen their people strategies, address workforce challenges, and build high-performing cultures. In addition to serving as ERC’s field liaison for members, she partners directly with clients in a consultative capacity, diagnosing organizational needs, designing tailored HR solutions, and supporting leaders through complex employee-related matters.

Susan’s consulting work spans a wide range of industries, including non-profits, manufacturing, accounting, distribution, and professional services. She has delivered and advised on key HR functions such as employee relations, new-hire onboarding design, compensation recommendations, talent acquisition for HR roles, career pathing discussions, policy development, and employee training strategies. She is also highly experienced in creating and updating employee handbooks, developing HR policies, and guiding organizations through sensitive issues such as performance challenges and terminations.

Since joining ERC in 2005, Susan has become a trusted resource for members and clients alike. Her deep HR experience enables her to provide practical, professional guidance on a wide range of HR and business topics. Throughout her tenure, she has led ERC’s HR Help Desk, supported hundreds of organizations with their HR questions, and played a strategic role in attracting, engaging, and retaining ERC’s member base.

Prior to ERC, Susan held HR management roles with Alpha Technologies, Spirol International, and OfficeMax, where she gained hands-on experience supporting diverse workforces across multiple sectors.

Susan is an active member of the national SHRM organization, as well as the Lake/Geauga and Cleveland SHRM chapters. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business and marketing from Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania.
